Annual Wage

£14,560.00
Pay can be negotiable, for the right candidate.

Working week

The working week is Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm plus travel time

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

A work based programme delivered by Riseholme College with weekly attendance and supported by ourselves, the duration of which is 15 – 24 months.

You will gain a qualification upon completion ::

Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Horticulture: Landscaping, including Level 2 Diploma in Work-based Horticulture (Landscaping), Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work and Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides

You will be expected to make necessary travel arrangements to attend college.

What will the apprentice be doing?

The position will be to undertake landscaping duties under supervision on various commercial contracts, to include, but not exculsively:

Topsoil preparation,

Turf laying,

Membrane laying,

Seed sowing,

Planting,

Mulch/Gravel Spreading,

Safely using power hand tools, such as rotavators, drilling augers, hedge cutters, mowers and strimmers.

To provide assistance with various elements of hard landscaping.

Job Description

To undertake landscaping duties as a part of our established teams, working with team leaders and site supervisors to achieve high quality finishes within specific time frames.

About the Programme

This is a fixed-term contract of 12 months, with a probationary period of 3 months. During the 12 months, you will be assessed with staff performance reviews, which will aid the company in determining areas for your personal development.

Entry Requirements

  • Must have at least 1 year experience in soft landscaping.
  • Must be a safe, effective and experienced driver.
  • Must have good standards (quality and pace) of essential landscaping skills, particularly ground preparation for turf laying, planting and seeding.
  • Experience in the safe operation of machinery/equipment.
  • Must be a team player, to work within our established teams, but also be able to work unsupervised when required, to a high standard.

Duties include

Site Operative Duties:

    • Preparing ground for various soft landscaping tasks.
    • Carrying out soft landscaping tasks: planting, turf laying, membrane laying, seed sowing and mulch/gravel spreading.
    • Safely using power hand tools, such as rotavators, drilling augers, hedge cutters, mowers and strimmers.
    • Undertaking instructions from Site Supervisors.
    • Abiding to Health & Safety procedures.
    • Undertaking training provided.
    • Keeping the vehicles and equipment inside them, clean and tidy.
    • Have high standards of quality.
    • Carry yourself smartly and clean, with an assertive attitude.
    • Demonstrate compliance with standard company procedures, including wearing the issued PPE and communicating with the management teams.
