As we step into the new financial year, all of us at West Lindsey Landscapes want to say a huge thank you to our incredible clients and suppliers.
Your support over the last 12 months has allowed us to keep doing what we love. We’re looking forward to an even busier year ahead with some exciting projects already in the works!
Project Highlight
Pennells Garden Centre
As Pennells Garden Centre, Sleaford underwent its retail expansion, we were responsible for the full soft landscaping package, transforming the functional outdoor area into an inviting retail destination. We installed high-quality ornamental shrubs and specimen trees across the new car park and entrance areas, providing year-round colour and texture, creating an immediate first impression for visitors. To protect these new ornamental beds during their vulnerable first growing seasons, we constructed bespoke timber fencing integrated with rabbit-proof netting. Due to the poor weather conditions over the winter, we have had to postpone site activity, so we will be revisiting the site in the following months to plant the remaining shrubs and native hedgerows to complete their vision.
Client Highlight
Lindum Construction
We are proud to highlight our ongoing relationship with Lindum Group.
Heading into 2026, we are beginning our next residential project with Lindum at Hardwick Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield. Lindum BMS currently have a big presence in the Ashfield District, and we are supporting them in a new affordable housing development, providing soft landscaping to enhance the local biodiversity and create that ‘wow’ factor.
We are also proud to flagship our support in the redevelopment of Rosegarth Square in Boston. Our team is working hard to build year-round visual interest beside play areas and green spaces for local children, with shrub and specimen tree planting working in harmony with the existing trees, in keeping with the local species. The rejuvenation of this new public realm will improve the experience for residents, businesses and visitors to the local area and will encourage new investment into this historic Lincolnshire town. We are thrilled to be given the opportunity to support a community-minded project and to be a part of such a brilliant step towards a brighter future for Boston.
Social Impact Project
Ongo, Godnow Road
At the beginning of the year, we were excited to start work on transforming an existing playing field into a thriving ecosystem to support nature and the local community. To encourage this, we planted 47 native trees, over 372 pollinating shrubs and over 700 bulbs. This scheme was enhanced by eco-friendly features, bug hotels and no-mow areas. The team thoroughly enjoyed working on this project, taking immense pride in knowing these plants aren’t just for show – they’re hardworking habitats that will support local wildlife for years to come.
Employee Highlight
CIOB Apprentice of the Year
We are extremely proud of Mia Owen, who has been named The Chartered Institute of Building (COIB) Apprentice of the Year 2025/26!
In March, after submitting a 1,000-word report on how she benefitted from completing her apprenticeship, Mia, alongside two others, was selected as a finalist down from 9 professionals in the CIOB’s Apprentice of the Year 2025/26 competition. Travelling down to London, she delivered a 20-minute presentation to a panel of CIOB judges, which was followed by a 10-minute Q&A. Mia’s presentation focused on sustainability within the built environment, specifically addressing current innovations, industry challenges, and the practical application of sustainable practices in her daily professional role.
As quoted in the CIOB article, throughout Mia’s apprenticeship, she “feel[s] the journey has shaped [her] both professionally and personally. Overtime, [her] confidence, knowledge, and ability to take on responsibility have grown significantly, allowing [her] to contribute more effectively within [her] role and gain a greater understanding of the industry as a whole.”
We couldn’t be prouder of her achievements and the impact she’s making, here, at West Lindsey Landscapes.
Team Updates
Kellie – Health and Safety
The safety of our team and the quality of our work go hand-in-hand. We are thrilled to announce that we have, once again, achieved Silver Status in our Annual Compliance Survey with Stallard Kane! This award is a testament to our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of Health and Safety Compliance across all our commercial landscaping projects. From risk assessments to on-site safety, we strive for excellence to protect our staff, our clients, and the communities we serve.
A huge well done to Kellie for her hard work in making this happen.
Ethan – Started apprenticeship at Riseholme College
In January, Ethan officially started his Level 2 Horticulture and Landscaping Apprenticeship with Riseholme College. Ethan spends 4 days a week on-site with us, gaining hands-on experience in everything from site prep to planting and maintenance; the fifth day, he spends learning technical theory, plant science and safety standards at Riseholme College. It’s been a fantastic way for us to bring fresh energy into the team while helping young professionals like Ethan “earn while they learn.” Seeing our apprentices develop their skills and confidence on real-world projects is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
What’s Coming Up
Naomi's Garden Phase 2
Throughout the next few months, we will be working towards completing Phase 2 of Naomis Garden, a wellness centre where individuals and families living in Lincolnshire can experience holistic respite. Creating a secondary space for individuals to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
Coles National Plant Specification Course
In the coming months, members of our team are travelling to Coles, one of our Nursery Suppliers, to attend a National Plant Specification Course. This opportunity will allow our team to have a more thorough knowledge of plants and their varieties, which we can apply in our roles. Located in Leicester, Coles is a leading high-quality plant supplier with whom we have had the privilege of working with for over 2 years.
