Welcome to 2024

Newsletter No. 2 (October 2023-January 2024)

2023 saw big changes for West Lindsey Landscapes, we relocated to Lincoln, taking on 2 locations in the LN6 postcode area.

The last three months saw a big push in growing our teams both internally and externally, helping us work towards our growth targets for the end of this financial year.
A highlight for the whole team was revisiting works at IBCC (International Bomber Command Centre). We were proud to be able to volunteer our time, and with the assistance of our generous suppliers donating materials, we reinstated the temporary marque area with fresh turf and enhanced the rose garden with decorative planting.
Following the works, we were gratefully hosted by IBCC and enjoyed a tour of the exhibition and grounds with our wonderful tour guide, Barry.

We invited North Kesteven District Council Marketing and Promotions officer, Georgia Winslow in to see us at Eagle House, and she produced an informative piece on the company. The link is https://www.businessnk.co.uk/case-studies/west-lindsey-landscapes for anybody wishing to have a read.
We ended 2023 with a Christmas meet the team event, hosting our valued clients and key business partners over the course of three days. Thank you to all those who attended.
2024 brings with it new challenges for all our teams, as we strive towards achieving ISO9001, and branching out into new ventures, such as developing our hard landscaping division. This will further aid our growth targets for 2024/2025.
Busy, but exciting times ahead.

Feature Project

Claystone Meadows - Claypole

We have recently completed a 16-plot housing scheme with Lindum Group in the village of Claypole located in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire.
The project has been delivered by Longhurst Group which includes a mix of two and three-bedroom-homes under Shared Ownership and affordable rent.
Our landscaping included ornamental planting to the fronts with Tillers Arena turf to the front and rear gardens. Works to the communal areas will be finished with amenity seed and concluded in the Spring of 2024.

Apprentice of the Year Awards

Mia Owen

In December 2023 we were proud to attend the Lincolnshire Enterprise Awards where our Estimating Apprentice Mia Owen was a shortlisted finalist.
The event was held at The Engine Shed with a vast number of local businesses attending.
We would like this opportunity to congratulate Mia and to thank her for all her hard work throughout recent months.

New Starters

Jayne Hancock – Financial Controller – Intro

I joined West Lindsey Landscapes in October 2023, after working for our accountants for 5 years. Taking on the role of Financial Controller, I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to work with Simon, Nicci and the team, and so far the role is putting my skills to the test, but I am really enjoying it!

I have worked in accounts environments since leaving school some 30-odd years ago, a large chunk of which was with companies in the construction industry. I did take a bit of a career change in 2003 when I bought a pub and became a landlady for a period of time, which was fun, but challenging. It is full on, with no socialising time, so having to sacrifice time with family and friends took its toll. After a year or so I decided to go back to bookkeeping and accounts.

I am originally from Yorkshire, and after a brief spell living in Norfolk, I met my Lincolnshire husband and moved here. A part of my heart will always be in Yorkshire but I love living in Lincolnshire, after 20 years it definitely feels like home! Outside of work I have a few hobbies. I love to craft and will happily turn my hand to making many things, particularly with beads. I also love live music and regularly go to gigs, locally and much further afield, Glasgow being a regular music haunt of ours. My husband owns a classic car and during the summer months we can frequently be seen at car shows, or meeting up with car club friends and doing road runs etc…

Maddison Travis – Apprentice Business Administrator – Intro

I started at West Lindsey Landscapes in October 2023 as the Apprentice Business Administrator through LAGAT College undertaking the Business Admin Level 3 apprenticeship.

My main responsibilities include the general administration within the office, greeting our guests at reception, providing work packs to each site team covering the scope of works for specific projects. I also undertake the ordering and deliveries of plant stock with our Nursery suppliers and assist our operations department with the processes for ISO9001.

Outside of work I enjoy watching old films such as Stand by Me, Dirty Dancing and Pulp Fiction which also gives me inspiration for my painting projects. In the summer I have tickets for the Leeds Festival and other indie gigs in the UK.

I’m really enjoying my time here at West Lindsey Landscapes and excited to see what the future holds.
